Rachel Williams
A Brief Biography
I am mainly a self taught artist, however I did attend Art college for a couple of years where I studied Art and Design and did A’ levels Art and Art History. The encouragement I received from my teachers inspired me to continue painting.
I now live on the top of a mountain, next to a lake amidst the beautiful and wild Welsh country-side. My husband is a sculptor and together we have made our living through our artwork for nearly twenty years!
I paint chiefly in oils, as I like the depth and richness of colour and tone, and I build up detail
and depth into my paintings slowly, each painting taking on average between three and six weeks to complete. I cannot exactly pinpoint all the reasons why I paint but I think a much of it is driven by my love of my surroundings and that it keeps me happy!. Although I paint mostly landscapes I also find portraits just as interesting to do. I have exhibited my work in open exhibitions and my own solo shows.
