Greg Little
Painting "en plein air" allows
us to find beauty in unexpected places-often in
the midst and shadows of the rapid and crowded
development of our environment. It also
helps to open our eyes and see our familiar and
immediate environment in a new light; a comment
Greg Little often hears while painting outdoors.
Born in 1956, Greg Little grew up drawing and
painting the landscapes, gardens, and people around
him in rural northern Alabama. As a teenager,
he studied with Dorothy Willingham, who gave him
an early introduction to various techniques, including
the use of color and light; much of which his
work still reflects.
Moving to Atlanta, Georgia in 1978, Greg was exposed
to new possibilities, energies, and directions
assisting in the development of his talents. While
exhibiting in galleries and various other venues
in the mid 1980's, he also began a career in the
decorative arts, painting murals, and building
furniture. This part
of his career kept him busy for 18 years working
in private homes throughout the southeast and
brought him to Florida in 1992.
Since 2004, Greg Little has devoted his full attention
to "en plein air" painting; focusing
on his process and the pursuit of ever changing
light in an ever changing environment. He
is a member of Oil Painters of America, Plein
Air Florida, Fort Lauderdale Plein Air, Bonnet
House Fine Artists, and the Broward Art Guild.
