George
Dudley
George originates from Acton in West London but currently lives in South East Wiltshire. He has been painting in one way or another since he was a child. He has not had any formal training and is self taught. Art classes at school, he recalls, taught him nothing useful to take forward into his adult painting life. He recalls that it was a joy to paint at these classes as they made a welcome change from the other acedemic subjects.
He does not specialise in any one medium or subject and enjoys the differing media disciplines and subject matter. He feels that boredom and complacency are the assassins of creativity.
Serious painting for George occured when he inherited some oil painting equipment from a recently deceased uncle in 1985. Watercolours came next and he feels that this medium is the most difficult to master to a good level and questions why those embarking upon painting always seem to take it up first. If he had not had the good fortune to inherit the oil equipment then he probably would have started with Watercolour himself but wonders whether he would still be painting now.
Each of George's paintings he considers to be a part
of him and can be
likened to his children but unlike his children he
would sell them to a good
home.
