Denis Pannett

I was born in 1939 and brought up in an art environment as my mother, Juliet Pannett MBE, was a professional artist best known for her portraits and work for the Illustrated London News.

It was never intended that I should follow in her footsteps but after education at Uppingham School, National Service in the Devon & Dorset Regt and 20 years with the diamond company, De Beers, during which time I was becoming more involved in art, I eventually took the plunge and went full time into painting in 1982.

I have exhibited widely in the UK and overseas and we have had many family exhibitions with up to nine members of the family all exhibiting together.
For nearly 20 years I ran painting courses in Sussex with my mother and aunt Phoebe Somers and still run occasional courses at Gerrards Cross Summer School.

I have produced over 300 paintings for prints of Golf Courses for the Rosemary Young Collection, illustrations for Richard Binns travel guides and other books and prints, calendars and greetings cards for numerous clients.

I am a member of The Guild of Aviation Artists, The Wapping Group of Artists, Honorary Freeman of The Painter Stainer’s Company, Chairman of the Chiltern Painters and past President of The Arun Art Society.
